The Marimo grows on average by 5 millimeters every year and, in nature, certain specimens have even reached 30 centimeters in diameter.

The oxygen produced by carbon dioxide during the growth of this alga is gradually released producing small bubbles and creating oscillations that make them appear as dancing.
