In Gardone Riviera, on the Brescian side of Lake Garda, more than 200,000 people visit the “Vittoriale degli Italiani”, the historic residence of Gabriele d’Annunzio designed by architect Giancarlo Maroni.
This monumental complex was erected by the will of the poet from 1921, wishing to make it a sign of memory of his life and his exploits and of the Italian people during the First World War.
Every corner is able to surprise the visitor thanks to beautiful gardens, streets, streets, squares, waterways, but above all the house, the library and the splendid amphitheater.
D’Annunzio collected as many memorabilia as possible in the Vittoriale thus realizing a real house-museum. In addition to sculptures, medals, books and works of art we can also find the SVA aircraft used for the flight over Vienna, the Puglia military vessel and the MAS96 submarine.
Perfectly set in the lakeside area we can also find luxurious gardens, a wonderful lemon grove with a belvedere and the Portico del Parente dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti.
On the summit of the Vittoriale stands the imposing Mausoleum, the funeral monument in which the great poet rests.
